22 weeks

I know I just posted a baby update yesterday, but I have to keep up with his weekly photos....at least for scrapbook purposes.

Today he's 22-weeks-old. And he did wake up at 4 a.m., but I didn't mind.
22weeks

Truthfully, there are many nights (when he only wakes once) that I hold him for just a little longer than necessary. I know that he's getting bigger by the moment and one day he won't want to be rocked.

And let's look back to when he was one day old.

He's pretty cute. ;)

shrink yo'self: week 5

It's another check-in time with Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans.

This week wasn't one of my better weeks. I've made friends with the vending machine at work (again) and I kind of fell out of the work week exercise routine. Poor decisions all around. I've been better the past two days, but still not 100% great.

Let's face it. I'm never going to be on my game 100% of the time.

Exercise during the week is tough for me, even with working out after the baby goes to sleep. I'm so worn out by the time I put him down at 7:30. All I want to do is watch tv from the comfort of my couch. I'm working on this.

Dinners have been great. All planned out, with one outing to a restaurant (or, in our case usually, someone grabs dinner and brings it back to the house.) This Friday we're trying a new Chinese restaurant in our area - they have a "diet" menu, which means they steam the food, rather than fry it.

Half marathon training:
I ran 5 miles on Saturday. My legs stopped hurting today. That's how out of shape I am! Actually, the 5 miles felt great while I was actually running. I met up with a friend (kind of late - 8:30 in the morning) and we averaged 11:30 minute miles. Not too shabby, considering the hills we're dealing with! I have another 5-miler on the schedule for this Saturday.

Where I am for week 5:
I'm up .2 pounds from last week. A total loss of 3.6 pounds for this month. It could have been SO much worse.

5 months

Lucas is FIVE months old!
5months

The little guy slept all the way through the night last night. I woke him to eat around 10, and then I woke him around 6:15 to eat this morning. That's rare. (With breastfed babies, it's not uncommon for them to wake at least once during the night. I'm okay with waking once. He had been getting into a routine of two and three wake-ups recently, and that was a bit exhausting.)

So when he woke (again) at 7:45, he was in a great mood for our photos!

In the past week, we've discovered TWO teeth! One broke through last Monday night, and the other is starting to break through (we saw it yesterday.)

We're in a rush to get him to wear all of his 3-6 month clothes. Some are more snug than others. Some just can't be worn at all.

He is in a size 2 diaper (when he wears disposable), but we're also trying to rush through those so we can go ahead and move into the 3s.

We've started the transition out of the swaddle at night. First, we went with one arm out, and this week we've been doing both arms out. This weekend, we may start with the sleep sack. Or he may just remain half-swaddled for a little while longer.

And for fun, let's take a look back at his other monthly photos.

room changes

We have an index card on our refrigerator with things we'd like to eventually do to the house. They include (but are not limited to) updating the kitchen (new counters, new flooring), updating our bathroom (new vanity, tile, floor, medicine cabinet...everything except for the toilet), a new/larger deck, and making our downstairs room more of a room to hang out in. (Oh, I once posted pictures of our house as we were moving in. The downstairs room is the one with the mirrors and blue carpet. It's classy.)

I spent the weekend moving furniture around. Everything is finally coming together! Last weekend, we moved the couch downstairs, and we just piled everything else into the room until we could deal with it. I should have taken pictures, but it was pretty horrendous embarrassing. On Wednesday, our new living room furniture was delivered and the guys offered to move our oversized chair for us. That made even more of a mess downstairs. And today I finally dealt with it.

The bookcase has been moved, the game chest has been relocated for the moment (to the garage), furniture has been rearranged three times and the television and it's stand have been moved to the opposite side of the room.

We still have to clean, and get a cable long enough to reach the television in it's new spot. Then we can hang (or re-hang) our artwork and new pictures. The room will then be complete.

The best part? We get to check one of our things off our checklist, and we didn't even anticipate making the room liveable this year. I love checking things off lists!

Pictures to come when we can get our acts together and clean...

{you capture} colorful

It's so gray and drab outside. And the lighting in our house is terrible (though we changed some things in our living room last night, so I'm hoping it'll help with photos.) I didn't know how I would do with this week's You Capture topic - colorful - until I realized that the baby's exersaucer is FULL of color!

I also need to preface this with the fact that baby is teething. So everything is in his mouth.

Like the pretty blue teether.

And the seat.

It seems he discovered the pretty colors, too!

21 weeks

This week, the baby is 21 weeks old!
21weeks

I had to take him to the doctor on Monday. All weekend (and on Monday morning), he had been grabbing his ear, rubbing it and it was very red. He woke up stuffy two days in a row, and hasn't been sleeping great. All signs were pointing towards ear infection.

Turns out, nothing was wrong. At least, his ears, lungs and throat were perfect. The doctor thought that he might be teething. He could also need a few extra calories. But he isn't sick.

That said, I paid a $25 co-pay to learn that he's 15 pounds, 14 ounces. Up 10 ounces in just under 3 weeks. (And the scale kept switching between 14 and 15 ounces, so he could have been an ounce heavier. He's a little wiggle worm.)

I've upped his bottle for the time-being to see if that helps him gain more weight (he's doing fine, though) and to see if it helps with his sleep at night.

Oh yeah. And on Tuesday, I received a text message from the babysitter. As the baby was gnawing on her finger, she felt the tooth that had cut through his gums. Poor baby. Interesting that neither the doctor nor I - and two other people - had felt it.

Early bedtime is still going strong. The first few nights, he was a little fussy when I put him down. Now, he goes down without a fight. The swaddle is about to come off, though, and the sleep sack will go on. He breaks the swaddle almost immediately when I put him in it. Silly boy.

So, big milestones for us this week. Teeth, breaking out of the swaddle, and no ear infections. :)

shrink yo'self: week 4

It's another check-in time with Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans.

I'm keeping up with the exercise, for the most part. Early this month, I wrote all of my workouts that I *should* do, in order to train for the half marathon. The only things that I'm really keeping up with are the rest days and the weekend long(ish) run. I guess I'm technically keeping up with the cross-training, when I throw the 30-day Shred workout into the mix. And I have been doing that, just not quite as often as I would like. (But, hello...I have a child who hasn't slept his normal long stretches in a week.)

All that said, I have been doing pretty well on the Weight Watchers plan. Tracking has been easier this time around.

Half marathon training:
Figured I'd throw this into this post, rather creating a separate one (for now.) This past weekend, I walked with the baby (in his jogging stroller) just over a mile, before running 3.5 miles. I was supposed to run 4 miles, but I thought that the mile prior to the run kind of made up for it. This weekend I'm on track to run 5 miles. It's going to be a very slow 5 miles.

Where I am for week 4:
I'm down 1.2 pounds from last week. A total loss of 3.8 pounds for this month. I have to attribute this week's loss to mostly the eating, or lack thereof.

all over the place

My head is all over the place today.

I've been updating my photo blog weekly. Going to try to keep it up for a third year in a row. It's worth a shot, at least.

I wish our furniture was here. We have a chair in the living room and that's all to sit on. Not comfortable, at all.

I'm hitting the wall of exhaustion today. I'm hoping that means the baby will sleep for a long time tonight. *fingers crossed*

I have sewing ideas in my head, but I first need to finish a scarf I started for my husband...last February.

We entered the baby in a cutest kid contest on Facebook. You should vote for him. He's pretty cute. (You can vote once per day through January 31!)

I need a vacation. I don't think furlough counts.

Have I mentioned I get to take another week of furlough? I've gotten used to it. That's kind of sad.

The baby's asleep. I should probably fold clothes....

How's your Monday?

an upside down house

I got a call yesterday from the furniture store. They're delivering our furniture on Wednesday. I tried to schedule a different day - or even a different time (10:30-2:30 is not a great window in the middle of the work week.) They wouldn't let me. (As soon as we get our furniture, I may have to review this company. I have mixed feelings about them...)

Anyway. That meant we had to get our oversized, over stuffed couch out of the living room by Tuesday night. And we needed help. Two of our neighbors agreed to help us today.

Our downstairs room is a disaster now (even more than before) since I had to move the desk and my computer to make room for furniture. The couch barely fit through the door - and when I say barely, we didn't have half inch to spare. The door even had to be taken off it's hinges. (The couch went out the sliding glass door, through the garage, and then through one inside door.) It was interesting. And we're lucky it fit. Otherwise, we would have been throwing that thing up on Craiglist so fast...

We now have one chair in the living room until Wednesday. And the room looks HUGE! Chloe doesn't know what to do with herself. There's nowhere for her to crash.

The best part of tearing the house apart? We found the spare key to my husband's car under boxes in the garage. The spare key that cost $140, and only the dealership can create.

I'll have to share pictures once we have everything situated. We're getting pretty excited about our upside down house. :)
